  Take a 5V4A power adapter as an example. From the label, its specifications are basically the same. Sometimes low-end ones may indicate more things, such as a standard power supply, maybe it is CE, FCC, etc. It's all marked up. First of all, we look at the material of the shell. Even if the high-end power supply has a biting appearance, its texture and brightness are different, and it is brighter, because it is injection molded from a brand-new fireproof plastic material. And the low-end appearance does not look shiny, gray and gray. Because it is made of recycled plastic, the price of raw materials is also several times different.

  Secondly, you can look at the material and plating of the metal part. The exposed metal of many high-end power supplies is nickel-plated copper, or the plating thickness is thicker and the brightness is relatively high, because high-end power adapters have to pass the salt spray test. Therefore, we sometimes find that mobile phone chargers bought for a few dollars outside will rust soon on the plug, while the original chargers of brand mobile phones will not rust after a long time. Of course, from the appearance, you can also see the label material, wire material and other places. You can see the difference between high-end power adapters and low-end power adapters. However, some manufacturers may only spend the cost on the appearance, and the interior is particularly poor. This can only be seen by dissecting the inside of the power adapter.

  If you know something about electronics, you can dissect the power adapter. Low-end power adapters and chargers generally use a triode solution. This is a common name, but in fact it is a professionally called RCC circuit. It does not have an integrated IC. Control is just the self-oscillation of the transformer and the transistor. Some very low-end chargers even only have a rectifier diode, and then there may be no filter capacitor behind, or a small 2.2UF capacitor. There is also no photoelectric coupling element and voltage regulator IC 431. There is also no fuse in the front. Such an ultra-low-grade power adapter composed of about ten components has no safety guarantee and has high radiation, which poses a threat to human health. Not to mention some protection functions for the electrical appliances and the power supply itself.

  The high-end power adapter has a current fuse input, a bridge rectifier composed of four diodes or a bridge stack, and a large input filter capacitor. And there are EMI anti-electromagnetic interference components to minimize radiation. The power supply is controlled by the IC, and the feedback is controlled by the primary PSRIC or the photoelectric coupling and voltage regulator 431 in the secondary feedback mode to make the power adapter work stably. The power adapter complies with safety regulations, and each component has safety considerations. The overall power adapter has passed safety certifications, such as UL, CE, CCC, etc. The circuit has built-in protection functions such as overvoltage, overcurrent, overload, short circuit, etc., which can better protect the electrical appliances and the power adapter itself, and make the life of the electrical appliances and the power supply longer.

  So don't just look at the price difference when purchasing power adapters. You get what you pay for. High-quality power adapters are naturally more expensive.
